Video Meeting Signals (VMS™) is a simple technique that uses gestures to overcome some of these limitations of video meetings on platforms like like Zoom and Teams. The approach has been implemented successfully in a range or organisations and was recently tested by a research team at UCL, who found evidence from a randomised controlled test that the approach can improve the experience of online meetings.

Creator of VMS,  Paul Hills,  gives an overview of the technique.

Professor of Experimental Psychology,  Daniel C. Richardson and Mackenzie Clavin both UCL,  summarise the research findings from the initial study and the further research planned.
